This is a request for 9500i and 9500ix users to make observations as to approximate GPS acquistion time. To be of meaningful, this would be after your car has been parked overnight or longer.
In another post I mentioned that had no problem with the GPS in my 9500i until I sent it in for the 9500ix upgrade. Since then I've had nothing but trouble - have had to return it twice and it's still not right. My detector has always been mounted the same way in the same car. Am I having horrible luck? Do only upgraded 9500i's have inferior GPS sensitivity? Does the 9500ix have inferior sensistivity compared the older 9500i? Is it just me?
You could help me try to figure this out by reporting your observations.
I'll start off with an observation I made yesterday. I had not used the car for a couple days and needed to travel 3.8 miles to the grocery store. After 9 minutes of travel and then parking at the store my 9500ix had not acquired GPS function. After being parked at the store under clear skies for another 8 minutes the satellite icon finally stopped blinking. Therefore with a combination of 50% travel time and 50% time parked my GPS acquistion time was a total of about 17 minutes. Is this supposed to be acceptable?
After your car has been parked overnight how long does it take your 9500 to acquires sat function? Please decribe amount of motion and whether i or ix. TIA!
