Default Found a cheap way to test for LASER detection

I was really interested in testing laser detection for my Escort x50 black. I tried hitting it with my Simmons LRF 600 laser range finder and found it consistently triggered a LASER warning. I tested it today at 100M aiming it at different spots on my car to get an idea of the threshold of detection at varying targets/angles. I put a cell phone in my car on speaker, so I could hear when the detector went off, while I shot at it from down the road. I plan to do some more testing with it later and maybe post a video, after I have significant forum privileges :/

Thats a good Test, I passed a trooper pointing his gun at traffic and my x50 never went off. Im guessing laser because it never went off.

I hope you do. Sounds like it would make a great video.

Keep in mind that cell phone transmissions often have some delay to them.

I got a very cheap way to test your laser detector. Just find a friendly cop shooting laser to do it for you.

Your way would definitely be much more cost effective and financially friendly than spending XXX amount of $$$ on a "Simmons LRF 600 laser range finder"....

yeah, They cost a little over $100 but you can use it for other things besides just testing your RD. I originally got it for disk golf, I thought it was neat to be able to measure the distance of my throws.

I don't feel comfortable asking police officers to lase me, but I have had a Lidar attack with my X50 before. The dreaded telephone ring made my stomach drop.

I just hold mine in front of my navigation display... works like a charm.
