Good deal on X50 Black ?

Stoked, I grabbed a X50 Black from A**z*n for $255

I was originaly set on finding a good deal on a used Silver X50 but it was frustrating looking at used ones that people didnt know what model S7/M4 and me not really knowing the exact condition or production date. I couldnt justify spending double the $$ for a X50 Black but when i recently saw a few used silver ones auction for +200 and the New BlackX50 pricedrop to 255 on AZ i couldnt pass it up.

Im curious about how effective the TSR thing is. Some roads i travel have Several of those K sensors that thoroughly annoy me. Also curious about the claimed "40% performance improvement". Prob BS, but we'll see... No one has done a recent detector comparison including the Black have they?

Cant wait to get the shipment, throw her in the Viper, and get my roll on!!! Although... i am considering the possibility that the product is listed wrong and a Silver unit will be send to me that i will have to sent back. lol, We'll see....

Fourty percent improvment can mean several things which is misleading to most novices. It is not a 40% increase in distance because everything is either squared or square rooted. A -3db in gain (double in power but not double in distance persay- a guess would be only several feet in normal range increase) around a -118 db radar detector would make it a -121 db unit on a certain band would make it a 200% improvement, 40% is nothing to brag about, just about a -1.2 db gain increase (that can be done by installing newer lower noise op amps)........Yes, on the other forum, the recent RD test does have the unit listed and it did very well, up there with the V1 with the Ka Guard on. The problem that I have with Escort is that they are slow and this unit's bands cannot be segmented nor the RDR turned off which makes this unit failable to I/O, simple words, it needs to be tested with fast radar and see if it can catch it. Go with the new Redline if staying with Escort instead and hope it is a super new design that will be on top of all units, we will see in time......

It sounds like you found this on Amazon? I checked and it's back up to $3xx.xx. Am I wrong about where you found it? I want to pick one up for a buddy and that price you paid is fantastic!

shumax, yes AZ, It was at the bargin price all last week. I see its back up to the $340 msrp now though. Might have been a glitch, I dont know. That makes me more confident that im going to recieve the actual black one :-) still waiting on my shipement from SouthCarolina, should have in a couple days.

Just got it in today and it is indeed the Black one. 4812 date code. Sweet!
I've got a 60mile trip after work so will be the perfect opportunity to test her out.

Thanks for the offer Rob. I dont think testing will be necessary I drive up and down rt1 every day and the amount of mobile & stationary Ka is substantial enough to know that my detector is working as good or better than my previous X50. So far in the past two days ive already had three Ka pickups. One of which was trick because there was a cop coming the opposite way but when he passed my signal continued to ramp up so i knew something was up. Sure enough another 1/4 down the road was one hiding behind a construction sign shooting underneath of it.

I would love to lean more about radar units though and how they are used. A couple times pulled over in the past ive asked the officer about his unit and how it worked and only got a response of "any further questions can be answered in court" LOL, sheeesh... I'm just looking for some general info man

Let me know if there is any testing meets in our area in the future. I might be interested in hanging out with some fellow enthusiasts seeing how my new X50 Black stacks up, and taking everyone for a spin in the Viper.
