Default BS RDR - Will it ever be available for other Escort Radar Detectors?

    Hey all,

Even though I currently have a Valentine 1 and several Belscort units I've become interested in the newly updated Escort Redline. However, I do wish Escort released these features on the 9500ix. My only issue with segmenting a Redline is that I live in an urban environment and without the ability to mute k band alerts I would go crazy. My V1 does an excellent job of keeping annoying k band alerts muted. I know the RL can be connected to Escort Live, but the idea of having to pay for an additional service for a $500 dollar RD is unnerving.

I know the RL is a great detector; however its extreme off-axis sensitivity would make it impossible to use in a polluted K band environment. The M4 based 9500ix on the other hand would be able to block out lane assist systems much easier due to its design. Its poor off-axis detection would be a plus for me, however it wouldn’t make any sense for me to purchase one at this point, as it is merely a rebadged V995 with a condenser lens and GPS filtering. Does anyone know if Escort plans on releasing this update for any of its models in the next year or 2?

So far the only units by Belscort with bs rdr is the Redline or the StIr-plus. The Beltronics uint is a custom installed gps detector which offers the lockout ability of the 9500ix and the M3 Antenna with all that brings. Put at a price of 1300, is a little rich for a lot of us. Especially seeing how it is wed to the Vehicle its installed in. EscortRadar aka Larry, reported on the Escortradar forum that there are no imminent plans to add bs rdr to any other units. While not a GPS detector the Beltronics Pro 300 and V-10 has USA mode which is like Ka band segmentation strapped to 2,5,8 but leaving RDR enabled. Personally use a Redline with the new firmware. I am fortunate in that where I live all enforcement is on Ka 34.7 and a little 35.5 and Laser. So I can roll with X and K turned off which leaves the Redline a very quite detector even when operated "uncorked".

"Heard" a few interesting things coming for Belscorts in fairly near future. The RedLine was such an improvement success that changes are imminent. I do not believe they can maintain a "best seller and performance" sales pitch if they don't improve other models like the 9500. I think the process for updates are the main problem, you can't have thousands of units being sent in, I think that is one reason the RedLine updates were on the "down low" to a select few enthusiasts and their group (you had to know and ask for the update), plus it helps as a test platform to help iron out bugs if any.
I think when they get LIVE figured out and completed for updates we may hear more about it --

Just my opinion we will have to wait and see.

I'm not sure where you heard this but it wasn't from us.

The 9500ix is a great performer and our best selling and best reviewed product since it was released over 5 years ago. It is currently the #2 best selling radar detector on Amazon out of all radar detectors sold there! Think about that. The $500 9500ix is selling better than detectors that cost fractions of this price while maintaining excellent reviews year after year. This speaks volumes about it's performance. Most people absolutely love it, myself included (I use one daily).

RedLine is targeted at the enthusiast. It's a raw detector for those that don't mind putting up with false alerts to have maximum radar detection performance. These new features in RedLine simply allow you to further fine tune RedLine for even greater performance.

The STi Driver and Magnum will most certainly not get these updates. They do not have enough memory to support them.

The 9500ix and X50 will also most probably not get them because they use an entirely different antenna with different capabilities. Ka segmenting in it's current form on the RedLine and STi-R Plus is not possible on them.

We just sent an email to all of our previous customers about this software being available for RedLine. We can handle updating them until we can get the software on the Escort Live SmartCord Live cord for you to update it yourself. The update is free with a $14 charge for return shipping.

I hope this clears up some of the rumors. Have a great weekend!

I believe it is that it Wont be done not that it Can't - There is USA mode on Bel 300 and international units that will toggle RDR off and segment certain bands.

Another opinion --- Having the average person, that knows very little about radar and how it works, would surely screw up their settings and then complain that the unit doesn't work. Plus the increase to false alerts if not set up correctly would further decline the quality of the "Live" network.

The main reason the 9500 is so liked is because they're "Quiet", works well enough in most cases, and in the city they are priceless, but you don't know if anything got missed, because you can't tell, because you don't know.

I have bought 3 Escort/Bel products in the last year including the new RedLine, been happy with them all and in no way complaining. Just sayin' there is a reason for everything and it is not always the reason we are led to believe, and that is not always a bad thing. There are RD options for everyone now and I am thankful for that.

9500ci needs it. There is NO REASON why it doesn't have it at this point. I DESPISE the K band tone of the Bel's so that's not an option for me. Seriously, makes me want to kill someone.
