Default Best Head Mounting Locations for SRX

    Hello All,

I recently purchased a used SRX unit. I am trying to install it on my 2002 BMW M3 (E46).

I plan on putting the front laser shifters in the center opening on the front bumper using 3M tape to adhere them to the bumper in front of the black mesh. I assume it is better to no place the shifter behind the mesh, giving it an unobstructed view of the road ahead, correct? I would prefer to install them behind the mesh, but I value function over form and if they perform better unobstructed than I will go that route.

Same issue with the radar antenna, is it best to mount it so it is unobstructed? I'd really like to mount it behind the kidney grills in the hood, but the slats would be in front of the radar (they are about 4mm thick). I guess I could just mount it in the same place I put the shifters, but that seems to low to me for radar. Would I be better off in the kidney grills even though they will be in front of the antenna, I feel like higher is better. What about inside the car pointing out the windshield above the rearview mirror? This seems like the best spot but will shooting through glass mess with it??

    Any input appreciated ! Thanks

For radar antenna: It must have an unobstructed view of the road OR you can place it behind a plastic bumper (no metallic paint) completely hidden and it will be fine. Honeycomb/kidney grill is really bad for radar but plastic doesn't disturb the radar waves like the grill would.

And be sure that the laser shifters are level and pointed straight ahead for best performance.
