    Default Escort 9500ci-dont buy!!!!

All my information is 100% factual and documented:

I made the mistake of buying and installing this unit. Overall cost about $2300 with the install. The keypad never really functioned other than mute. Because I own several properties around the country and don't drive this particular vehicle year round I didn't notice. Then my wife wanted me to change the volume and it didn't work. I checked the manual thought I was doing it right-nothing. Took it to the install place(when i had time and was in that city)and they said it wasn't working so I had them pull it out($150) so I could send in the control unit.

Now here comes the real reason you shouldn't deal with Escort. Zero customer service. I have their flagship model and nothing. I sent it in on the 5th overnight, didn't hear until the 12th that they wanted my credit card to charge me $60 for something that never worked in the first place. They said it was out of warranty but I said it never worked and because its not my daily driver nor am I even in that state year round how would I know. Then called on the 23rd for a call back on the status and no call. Then wrote them an email on the 25th-no reply from them. Then called on the 26th and they said it was still on the bench!!! They would call me back-no call. Just replace or fix the damn thing already. Then on the 27th I used their online chat to agent and they said that they were so behind with customer complaints they haven't gotten to mine yet. Oh wait they said I should receive it on the 2nd now…. hmmm oh and they still charged me the $60 but didn't tell me what was wrong, if they fixed or replaced it or anything.

If you ordered food at a restaurant and they took forever to bring it to your table they would comp your meal. Not Escort no no they think its fine to spend now close to $2500 and for you to make all the calls and take your car in for install de install etc…

There are many companies out there save your self the hassle.

    Also :

***also the company edits and refuses to post any negative reviews about their systems on their website. They have a review section but the fine print allows them to NOT PRINT NEGATIVE reviews. Sure they have some that are passive aggressive backhanded compliment that you may read as negative to give the appearance of a balanced review site like, " the k band is just so sensitive it works TOO MUCH…" Please save yourself the embarrassment of not being smart enough to read their "terms and conditions" and understand that they are LYING about and EDITING the reviews of their companies products and support.

"The keypad never really functioned other than mute." “they wanted my credit card to charge me $60 for something that never worked in the first place" That’s where you stuffed up....."Then my wife wanted me to change the volume and it didn't work."

So I'm the last one to defend escourt because they do suck eggs imo. But dude you had this device to the point it’s no longer in warranty? After the install months later your wife (it sounds like to me she is the one who had been using that car the most) would like you to change the volume and it doesn’t work! A high flyer such as you should know to get all over that ASAP. Remember you said it never worked in the first place but you obviously where happy to start with right?

So at the risk of being flamed like a roasted marshmallow. You have to take reasonability, your story is you knew it didn’t work from the start, I guess you didn’t have the installers even test it at the start? You must of driven away happy otherwise you wouldn’t of driven away at all without calling escort on the free call number or hitting up the installtion company,oh but you where too busy to do that correct.
I find it really hard to have any sympathy at all for you. Come on dude tell the full story and have a good talk to the person that broke the button aka the installers or the person with the really bad temper who pushed it a little too hard one too many times. Suck it up pay the $60 move on with life. your fault 100% and esort know it. So do we.

OK So reading isn't your strong point. Let me help you out. I said I didn't know it wasn't fully functional in the first place. All I ever used was the big center Mute button. It wasn't until she asked me to change the volume that I realized it wasn't working and took it to a shop to have it checked out. Also your deduction that my wife must have been the daily driver really just exposes the different worlds we live in. I have several properties across the country, thus several cars. My wife has several cars. The last car I sold was a 2001 with 60k miles on it. Get it now???? We don't have a "DAILY DRIVER" car that I take to my weekly paycheck W2 job. Sorry. Thankfully thats your life not mine. So actual use on the car was minimal.

Now lets just talk about the customer service here. They still had it for almost a month and never returned a phone call. I did agree to pay the $60, a point you clearly missed in your reading. In fact I had to call them after not hearing back for a while and force my credit card at them to get it back. But even after that they failed to update me on the status or ship a new or repaired one back in a timely manner. The customer service department replied when I called that, " we are just way behind on all the complaint calls and it takes us days to get to them…."

Now this is their most expensive top of the line product. They are marketing to guys like me. Several high end cars with disposable incomes that think nothing of dropping 2-3k on an unnecessary option. While guys like me have plenty of cash what we don't have is TIME. It may take us 3 weeks to schedule a time to get back to that part of the country. Then to have to spend the time dealing with a repair or replacement (i.e. taking this in to have it uninstalled and reinstalled then making an inordinate amount of phone calls) doesn't make this unit a VALUE OR A CONSIDERATION for those people Escort is trying to market to. Thus buyer beware. Choose another option.

By the way I received a new control unit today. They said they replaced it. So I guess that takes 28 days to see if it needs to be replaced. Thats great customer service. Oh and they never admitted or diagnosed what was wrong with the first unit. Translate to mean, " we can't confirm that it wasn't broken from the beginning".

Also I posted the exact same review on the escort website at the same time. They decided not run it. When you're trying to con people you don't want anyone pulling the curtain back to expose your charades.

We are privileged to have such a great wonderful and wise successful businessmen with a fleet of helicopters and cars has humble himself and posted on this meagre forum. I love it these bums that run on Negative equity really do think that they are somebody special. If you had any real money you wouldn't be running around doing all the hard work.

To post on a forum telling the world to not buy a certain product because you have had a bad experience is somewhat self-indulgent self serving and darn right ignorant. Question:would you have posted in this forum if you were happy with the product? Think we all know the answer to that. To see you still haven't learnt how to handle situations is quite amazing. Wow it's a funny old game in a funny old world. Angry man.
Oh btw I do just fine thanks, and the 9500ci isn't the best either I should know I've had one.

You've proved my point exactly and I wish you were the salesman for Escort because your sales pitch would be:

"So go pay me more than you would for any other product and when it breaks cause you can't push buttons too hard send it in and they'll keep it for a month and you won't hear anything from them. Sure you can call and email but you still won't hear. This unit probably will break shortly after the warranty too…"

The point is that I paid upfront to have a repair done and they kept it for a month without contacting me.

The unit malfunctioned (when I noticed it) just outside of warranty.

If every product you bought broke just after the warranty you'd think twice about buying it.

If your car, computer and appliances in your home broke right after the warranty and then you had no customer service from the manufacturer even after you've paid for repair, then you would try to warn others by posting a comment. I post good reviews and bad but I never thought Id be attacked for trying to do the right thing. Im helping people so they don't have to go through the same experience I did.

I expect now you'll find some other thing to attack me for. Success, America, or some other thing that you have an insecurity about but has NOTHING to do with the product, company or customer service which is the issue of the post.

I only took issue with your introduction or not being an introduction but a ranting complaint in my opinion.
The USA is just alright with me and so are people who are successful at what they do. I guess diplomacy is not a strong point for both of us. The type of product you are dealing with is something that can be difficult to pin down when issues arise. While the way that they handled your issue sounds like it was unacceptable I can't help but have empathy for somebody on the end of a telephone on minimum wage trying to decode a person's complaint (that is not your problem). While on the other side of the story a customer that has paid top money for a device that is not working as advertised has the right to be upset.Escort have dropped the ball this time round please remember that you are not the only person with issues concerning QC. You may be in a long line of people waiting for service. Not your fault but it is what it is, and yes I would be well pissed if they didn't get back to me (point taken). It's just the way most people do it would be to introduce themselves then they go to the escort forum next post and let it rip. I am personally a V1 fan just simply build quality is second to none. Downside not undetectable or GPS functionality unless you are running android and the V1 connect. Not really a "plug and play" like the remote GPS detectors. More of a tech geek device.
On a lighter note If you do have some spear cash laying in your top draw (and you have made it clear you have) I would suggest to invest in a Bell sti-r +. Have that installed in your favourite racer. This detector is well known be the king of undetectability GPS/radar detectors period. Due to its band segregation feature it has the ability to detect instant on police radar at a much greater distance and reliability than the 9500 CI. Pretty much the same thing as the CI but a lot better performance. Unfortunately it's the same as the CI having plastic fantastic controls.Peace
