I have to say if a picture tells a thousand words, real-life tells a story.
Many of you know I have been hard on the Max.
But I have to say here now having actually seen some of the Max cases in person--at Escort's SEMA booth--has changed my mind to a large degree.
Like Larry once said on escortradarforum.com, the blue case is pretty stunning. Though not my particular cup of tea, I found the carbon fiber look pretty interesting. But what really struck me was the "burl wood" look. In a German sports car, it would look most at home.
Yes, I'm inclined to gravitate towards simplicity of form following function, but seeing these configurations in person has made we rethink my opinion on that front. As to the price increase, that's a personal decision as to the the justification. But for those interested in interior continuity, I can now see the logic.
My apologizes (to my readers and Escort) for prejudging these options before really seeing them in person. I will be revisiting the original review of the Max (now that development has stabilized) and also be taking a fresh look at the Max2 while I am driving out West through the next week.
