Default Have questions about buying new RD

I posted the following on the General forum but I would like to post here also for maximum feedback:

I am somewhat new to buying RD. I owned a cheap Cobra about 10 years ago and I bought a Whistler Cordless from Radio Shack a couple of months ago and took it back because I had trouble hearing it with the sterio on..

I am pretty set on the x50, though the rx65 is not out of the question. I think I want the x50 because, from what I read, it seems to false a bit less than the others.

    My questions are:
    1) What is Belscort? I see this term here often. Are Bel and Escort using the same techonolgy, are they owned buy the same company, or are they just ripping each other off?

2)Is it worthwhile to spend $30 on the extended warranty?

    3) How is the volume on the x50? I read that the rx65 is the best but is the x50 good? I play the sterio a little loud sometimes but I am not shaking the earth when I have it loud.

I have been reading this board a few weeks and have read quite a few back posts to get a feel for my needs, but any advise will be appreciated.

Well if you want sound, get the V1 it has to be the loudest RD on the market!!!

of course I am a Vobie so what would I know!!

Well personally I wouldnt go with the RX65 it may have a few things that are nice but the laser detection is horrible, the damn is hard to hear with the music up.

the X50 is a little better with Laser and the tones are different so that makes the a little bit better to hear!!

Bescort is what we call the company now since they are one in the same, they just still produce there own RD!!

The V1 falses not more but longer!! thats just cause you have a front and rear antenna, trust me when I say, the V1 is cheaper then the X50 or RX65 just look what you get with the V1 two antennas two laser detectors all in the V1 you get ARROWS AND BOGEY COUNTER!!!

spend the extra 50 buck for the V1 it will be well worth it!!!

Just do your research before you buy compare all top three, they all have drawbacks but all have stong points for me personally Iwanted a V1 cause of the Arrows mostly, I cant tell you how many times my 985 goes off and I am like where the Hell is the Bastar.d

Just read the forum extensively, you will find all the info you need!!

You can do a search through the forum as well!!

    Welcome to the Fourm!!

I have to warn you tho, this Board is like Crack and will effect your daily activites!!!

You may regret that with Bel/escort...

It appears that they do break more often than they should. With a semi-high ticket item like a RD where one of the best usually is still one of the best in a couple of years, you may be holding onto your detector for a while. Furthermore, there is a bit of a learning curve with each RD, so it benefits you to stick with one for a while.
