I have mine set on Auto. I tested it out on Highway for a few days but damn thing would go off at every intersection. Maybe it's because I live in an urban area :P

City low x setting can't go wrong! Does not affect K or Ka band! :P

If you're out in the country or do a lot of highway driving, highway is the way to go (it's also the mode I leave mine in, despite my urban lifestyle). If you usually drive on side streets with lots of commercial development (read: automatic door openers), you might want to flip into auto mode.

If you live in a place where X-band is not used (and you know this for a fact), turning X off on your detector can eliminate most of those openers.

Leo's will often (most of the time) sit behind X-band speed signs when the city leaves them on (the LEO's run K-band)... the LEO's must think that because the X band is constant-on and the K band is instant on... the RD user will get the normal "your speed is" X band false.

It really is a good idea by the LEO's, they just dont understand that on new RD's you have multi-threat displays.

So when I see that the X-band signs are on... I always slow down, so for those facts I keep my X band on highest alert... since the X is so much easier to detect then K is... especially constant-on X vs instant-on K.

If you run the x50 in city low X without multiple threat display on the x50 even if picking up x band will override to k or ka band if leo's are running it in instant or constant on!

Only time the multi threat display comes in handy is when there are multiple signal's of the same band, single or multiple threat's of K or KA really doesn't matter too me cause either way I'm slowing down!

Even if the LEO is hiding behind a x band speed sign running instant on K band with the x50 set to city low x you'll weed out the annoying falses and have plenty of time to respond to the k band threat! A while back in a small near by town Sumner Wa I ran into the same situation a local LEO hiding behind a x band speed wagon and the x50 gave me 3+ miles of warning & he was shooting instant on!

Why deal with all the falses when you don't need too!
