It seems as if all the good ideas are coming from a different part of Cincinnati at the moment.

That was a forward facing test anyway, not an actual test where the vehicle was shot at.

Even if the v1 was finally beat, it has taken belscort how many years?

Hmm, 1992 until 2008 or so.

Pretty sad if u ask me..................

Belscort must not have known what R&D is or, maybe, Mike V is so ingenious they simply couldn't find a way to beat him. I'd be willing to bet on the Second one.

Why would you waste $1600 for a radar detector anyway. The V1 has still trounced detectors that cost nearly $100 more than it. I guess Belscort has to make the detector 4x as expensive before they can beat the V1 and also resort to a remote mounted location.

Jazzy mentioned a good point. You would be money ahead to invest in an LPP or LI and V1. Atleast this way, you'd be protected by the best of both worlds.

Mine didn't just get a 'tune-up' when it went it... that much I will say.

But by all means, I am sure my V1 would have gotten smoked by the CI (VR rested too long on their arrows), but it (my V1) would have faired better then the other V1's, that I am almost certain of.

Sounds like a 'sob' story to me with a V1 Zombie coming to 'the' realization...

I remember when VR had their units cost ~$100 more then the 2 other most expensive dash-mounts (25% more), and the V1 offered marginal (if any) better real world detection. IMO the downfall of the V1 started with the X50 and X65, they both were nipping on the heels of the V1 (in real-world scenarios), it was then just a matter of time before Belscort moved ahead... and VR sat back and rested on their arrows.

IMO it was VR's game to lose... and they did (They need something soon). It is in part to the zombies (who expressed full content with the V1 in every aspect) that has stalled progress at VR.

Again, there is nothing inherently wrong with the V1 (heck I own one), but its just the lack of progression in this industry thats hurting VR. Look how long it took VR to COPY Belscorts idea of a 'self-test' built into their detector? Thats pretty sad if you ask me phillip... there are probably thousands of V1's out of tune right now... and the owners have no clue. (Not that the self-checks are flawless, but they sure help).

My V1 was tuned by Valentine Research 2 weeks before the GOL laser event.

My V1 wasn't 'tuned'... by VR.

Without any new ideas, VR is in trouble. In early 2011, VR could very well be up against a Belscort windshield mounted RD with arrows, spec mode, Truelock and crazy sensitivity. This then relegates the V1 into the budget RD catergory.

20 years without any real improvement (maybe POP that is useless for me, maybe not for you ?!).

I talked with an electronics waves engineer (maybe some of you are) and he said this technology (used on every rd) is very old and cannot be improved unless developing/designing something full new and obviously more expensive...

I don't want to upset anyone or to make the topic drifting.
It's just my point of view.

That doesn't matter that just proves that the 9500 is even better. Thats real world scenario, if a cop is on an on ramp doing the same thing that can be very bad.

Even if the v1 was finally beat, it has taken belscort how many years?
And how long has it taken for v1 to change really anything on their product 1992 to 2008 or so... (basically) while belscort is always coming out with new technology. V1 invinted the arrows but other than that what, seriously what... While belscort... stealth rd, gps, self-test, etc. etc. etc.

Hmm, 1992 until 2008 or so.

Pretty sad if u ask me..................
not really, its said in both ways.

Belscort must not have known what R&D is or, maybe, Mike V is so ingenious they simply couldn't find a way to beat him. I'd be willing to bet on the Second one.
Actually belscort was one of the first companys to make rd's. I think if they truly wanted to beat him they could but they were more focused on making the product more usable, friendly, features, etc. No doubt mike v is a smart guy

Why would you waste $1600 for a radar detector anyway. The V1 has still trounced detectors that cost nearly $100 more than it. I guess Belscort has to make the detector 4x as expensive before they can beat the V1 and also resort to a remote mounted location.
For the same exact thing your signature has. "I demand maximum detection, therefore, I utilize the Valentine 1 Radar Locator. V1 for life!"
No not really the reason that the detectors you are mentioning that it has trounced are 100 dollars more is because belscort utilizes new technology and puts into their product. The bel sti is 100 more because its spectre proof, the reason the 9500 is 100 more is because it has gps.

Jazzy mentioned a good point. You would be money ahead to invest in an LPP or LI and V1. Atleast this way, you'd be protected by the best of both worlds.
I'm sorry and i'm not trying to be rude or disrespectful but when somebody makes a complete ill incorrect statement like that
