Default 25 year radar detector user saying hi

I've been reading this board for a long time, but finally decided to join because of not being able to see links or pictures (making the board almost useless to me). So here I am .

My first detector was the original Escort, purchased new in 1984. I still have it. What should I do with it? I can't just toss it ... or can I?

My next detector was an Escort DSP. I really liked that one. It just felt and looked perfect. I don't have that one anymore. Remember the "electronic key" it came with? I don't know if it prevented theft but it was a cool idea.

Next was the V1. I bought it around the time the first adds appeared in Motor Trend (could that have been 1994?). As a matter of fact, the day I saw the add, I called them to ask about the V1. Turns out I got to talk to Mike Valentine himself. I didn't really understand how the detector could pinpoint the radar. Mike got a laugh out of my speculating (half joking and half being stupid) that there was a mini radar antenna inside spinning around (due to the semi-circle on top of the unit).

Since that first V1 I've gone through 2 updates, the last one happening early 2008.

So there you have it. Only 14 more posts to go
