Default New guy looking for suggestions

Got my dream car, and never thought I'd need anything like this, but my new M3 is a lot less stealthy than my GTI, so here I am. Ultimate goal will be radar and laser protection, with as clean an install as possible. I'm not a huge fan of windshield mounted units, so I'm looking at a 9500ci or perhaps a stealth installed radar unit with Laser Interceptors (I know these kick the ZR4's butt). Laser is probably highest priority, since the WA state patrol is allegedly going laser only. Anybody run laser jammers only?

    Off to look for suggestions!

    - Adam

WSP definitely uses as much radar as laser. They use moving and stationary I/O all the time. They use stelalth vehicles also. There is no way they are going to get rid of radar. This would make all speed enforcement stationary and remove the option of moving speed enforcement. Not a chance.

I love my 9500ci for radar, but since you're up against alot of Ultralytes, I'd have to suggest a better performer against laser for you. If you were to Veil your lights, then the 9500ci would work well enough against laser, but since that's unlikely in an M3, I'd suggest the LIs.

My setup is the 9500ci+quad LI+V1. This gives me the best radar and laser protection, with no compromises.

Thanks for the info on WSP. I don't run any countermeasures now, so I have to go with others reports. The guys I've talked to have noted more radar on side streets than the highway, but since I drive a mix of both I was going to eventually get both anyway. With your input, I think I'll be getting either a 9500ix or V1 sooner rather than later. I do like the GPS functions on the 9500, since there's lots of red light cams, school zones with radar vans, etc, locally, and the escort has a lot less false alarms. The V1 does have LI integration now, though, which is nice. Decisions, decisions! I just wish I could get a ci without having to pay for the ZR4!

I was running around in Seattle and came across an intersection that my 9500ix identified as a speed camera. So, not only do you have intersections with RLCs, you have intersections with speed-on-green cameras.

Yep, so you need a full setup, laser jammers, radar detector and camera database. So my suggestions would be:

    1) 9500ci + Veil
    2) V1 + Cheetah GPS Mirror + LI

How about 9500ix plus LI? That'd give me the ci's radar/GPS, plus the better laser capability?

Yep, that works. But I don't want you to think the 9500ix gives you the 9500ci's radar capability. My 9500ci is much more sensitive than either of my 9500ix's. Also, I'd seriously consider the quad LI. With as much laser as you have in the PNW, it will only be a matter of time before you get tagged from behind.

Yeah, all goes back to wanting the ci, but not wanting to pay for the inferior laser that goes along with it. The STI-R could have been a contender, but not without GPS. With the ci going on ebay for just over a grand, it may be the best option. I could probably even use the back laser until I get the extra LI heads. I agree that I will eventually need rear LI's. Looking through the forums this morning I've seen some shifty stuff the WSP's are doing.
