Sorry to say there is no detector in your price range that will accomplish what you are wanting. The Bel Sti is the only undetectable RD and it will run you from 430 to 500 dollars. I would never suggest any RD in the 100 dollar or below price range anyway. But that is just me.
Agreed Bel STI is the only way to go in VA.
Only Sti can save your life
First I'm surprised a girl is interested in RD. My girlfriend hates my V1. Funny thing is she got pulled over yesterday for speeding.... I told her a RD could have saved you. She is still not interested....go figure
Off topic - How many girls do we have on the forum?
OP-Bel STi is ur best bet - if not save your money for new shoes
Ticket:$75-3500
Court costs: 150-500
Raised ins premiums increase: $1k/year
Dropping $500 on a RD still seems like a finacial no brainer if it saves you from just one ticket.
Agree with the others that the Beltronics STi for about $500 is the way to go. There is a Beltronics forum on here you might want to visit and read and inquire.
But you also then have to mount is steathy so it can't be easily seen. Sticking it to your windshield with the suction cup mounts is probably not a good idea.
The are some forums here on how to with some ideas.
I have no idea what an LEO can do in VA is you are caught with a RD. They would probalby at least cite you, might confiscate it, maybe arrest - I don't know. Does any one on here know.
Also keep in mind that a RD does not give you complete protection. There are other means od determinine speed. You also need to be aware of all of the other things they can stop you for (lights, license plates, registration, lane violations, stopping violations, etc.) From my oservations, many who speed also fail to signal and fail to stop properly.
Three things I advise to know:
Where you drive
What you drive
How you drive
Know those and everything that is part of those and you are that much a head.
If you drive the highways a lot you might want to consider getting a CB radio. Listen to the truckers and usually they will spread the word on LEO and lots of other info too.
Also, don't draw attention while you drive or you will draw attention.
I am not in VA but I deal with a lot of sales reps and tell them the same.
Good luck.
STi is the only option in VA and DC. It's worth the investment, they are only going to get more aggressive in enforcement with dropping tax revenue.
