Thanks for all the information posted by members. I trolled this forum when conducting my due diligence before I made my radar purchase . From all the information I gathered, I set the following criteria to make my decision.

    1. My Budget
    2. My Driving routine. City vs. Highway
    3. How much use the radar will see per month
4.How long I will be keeping my vehicle. portable vs. mounted

    Once again,
Thank You for the Treasure Trove of information

Refreshing to see someone come in and actually do a little studying before asking all the same questions that have been answered many times. Welcome.

Thanks for the Welcome. I am familiar with some of you already , i have read some of your post when doing my research.

Here are my premises to my conclusion:

    1. I can afford $300 to $400
    2. I will use the radar for highway driving
    3 I use the radar 3-4 times a month
    4. I plan on keeping my car for another year

    And my conclusion.........

I chose the V1........does this make me a Zombie? no, it is IMO the best radar that suites my needs. It was a difficult choice, as the escort 9500i was a heavy contender under my set criteria, but i did get a chance to take a ride with a borrowed V1 for a day. The arrows were the deal breaker, now if only V1 had SpecDisplay.

I guess you know where i will be posting , as i do have a few questions that i could not easily find in the V1 forum..

Thanks Again for all the post from all members , I used the heated debates to find flaws in my criteria and to keep me from forming my own bias while doing my research.

    Thanks

Welcome aboard Bubba. The V1 is the right choice for you. It's the best bet for highway driving. In the city, I prefer Bel/Escort for their superior false filtering.

You mean you only use the detector 3-4 times a month? I'd use it every time you drive.

And what does keeping your car another year have to do with it? Even if you hardwire the detector in, it's easy enough to uninstall when you sell/trade the car. Just curious.

How often do you encounter laser in your travels?
If I'm passing you on the right, YOU are in the wrong lane!

If speed kills, how come I'm still alive?

    I agree.

And what does keeping your car another year have to do with it?

How long I keep my car determined if I would consider a remote unit with a custom install. This would have opened a entire list of different possibilites / opportunities, but my budget criteria would have kept me in check.......(I guess i could change my budget criteria to accomadate my Conclusion,)......sort of like , the end justifies the means...

I use my V1 for commutes between Corpus Christi and San Antonio , Texas. I havent encountered any laser, since Texas Highway Patrol is Ka, and they are most prevelant on this open stretch of highway.

My next vehicle purchase will be based on laser jammer compatability

I can't fault anyone for buying a V1, in my mind it's the only windshield mount detector to have.
