Best money saving tip you'll ever get: Slow down.

What are you looking for, and what state are you in?

Considering the cost of speeding tickets and increased insurance premiums, one of the top-of-the-line radar detectors is the best way to go if you constantly have a somewhat heavy foot.

Slowing down as age progresses, the ground does seem harder...
Im not wishing to see how much I can get away with... Its those times one finds themselves in a wolf pack of pre-occupied drivers, so you open the throttle to get some response time distance, check your mirrors as you ease off a little, and find you just beamed by Matt Dillon lookin for a gold star next to his name. Hes as polite as a barb wire fence, and 5-7mph is suddenly overwhelming.

Again, what are you looking for? Radar, laser, or both? Top of the line protection, "good enough" protection, or the cheapest you can find?

I got a Cobra xrs 9930. Mounting myself, considering using windscreen fasteners to set the mounting bracket.

    Okay, I live in Portland,Oregon.
I did buy the xrs9930, and so far have wired a power takeoff with a cord 35 feet long coiled under the seat. again my ride is a 07 Kawasaki Vulcan, 1600, in pristine condition. I wanted to be warned primarily on interstates, stop sign and I keep it on the button on most rural roads. The remaining issue I KNOW of is mounting it, what I might have laying around to do the job.

As Trailtow already said, the issue you have is that you bought a useless, seriously overpriced piece of plastic that will not give you the warning you are looking for. He was not joking. Throwing it at the cop is the best way to get your money's worth out of it, because that's all it's good for.
