First off, hello to everyone, I've been lurking on here for about a week or so, and this seems like an awesome community.
I just immersed myself into the whole world of detectors/jammers/preventative measures about a week ago, and ordered my first radar/laser detector a couple days ago; a Whistler XTR-695se... Before anyone jumps all over that, I'm a poor college student so I can't exactly splurge and get a high end anything just yet, but I plan on buying a BEL STi someday.
Anyways, my question is concerning settings to use in PA. I am under the impression that Pennsylvania State Troopers use exclusively K-band radar (?), and I have no idea how prevalent LIDAR is. Also I believe that only state cops can use anything above VASCAR/pacing. One of the features on the 695se is "Ka-Max Mode" which boosts Ka scanning signals, at what the description seemed to be implying at the expense of X and K bands. So, would I be better off in regular highway mode? and what's up with PA's detection methods (it seems like it's pretty lax to me)?
