    Angry newbie against laser

I'm posting from outside the U.S. A few weeks ago, fixed traffic cameras begun to spread in my city (photos attached). Their brand is 'Traffipax', they are set as rear aspect cameras shooting vehicles from behind.

The traffic camera system consists of two units, the actual camera box, & a separate pole (several yards away in front of the camera's pole) with an unknown device on top, both are installed at traffic lights & seem to be both for red lights & speed control. The camera box has 2 round windows, the top one houses the camera itself & the bottom seems to be some sort of a light, a flash light perhaps.

Is anybody here familiar with this type of cameras, and what is the best way/device to detect & jam them?

    Thanks

Here's the best way to deal with these cameras!

Or, for a more subtle approach and assuming they are laser based, you could PM forum member Laser-InterceptorUSA and have him direct you to where you need to go, but that's less fun.

Hello foxbat and welcome to the forum!

    From where are you from?

The 1st photo is a product of the German Traffipax company and they are the Robot Traffiphot S that is being used on motorways and Traffiphot III SR at road junctions.

They are using piezo sensors that are installed in the road and calculate your speed by divide the distance from the one sensor to the others , with the time you spent at these distances, u=s/t .
Each camera uses 3 sensor lines.

The only solutions for them(until now) is to slow down before you reach them or the way that djrams said.

I can't recognize the type of the camer at the 2nd photo, maybe it's a Gatso... If you see on the road near that camera and realize piezo sensors then it uses the same technology. If not, then it is a radar camera or a laser camera.

    Hi Christosxo,
Thanks for you reply, I'm actually your neighbor near by in Syria. Both photos are part of the same unit since the pole in photo-2 is several meters in front of the camera (photo-1) at the same traffic light. So, could it be that what's on top of the pole in photo-2 the 'piezo sensor' you spoke about? What kind of signal do these sensors use, laser, radar? & why can't they be detected/jammed accordingly? What is their effective rang? How long does it take to start speeding again once you pass them?

    Thanks again

Awesome video, takes balls to sit and watch the camera burn.
