Do you have speed cameras in your area? (you said you were from AZ)

Welcome to the forum. What radar detectors are you looking into? Forget radar jammers, they are illegal and most of them don't work.

Speed cameras are everywhere were I live, on my daily commute to school I pass at least 5 stationary cameras, and possibly 1 - 2 of those portable van cameras. The vans were the main reason I went out and got a radar detector because I usually don’t speed in excess, but rarely do I drive under the speed limit, so I just wanted some extra protection in case I did not see a warning sign.
As of the radar detector I have the Escort 9500ix, which from driving around town today seems really sweet, it did hit at a couple of false alarms but the unit automatically stored them when it did. In one day the unit might have paid for itself because I was running late to school and of course five minutes away from my house it goes off and I look around and I see a cop sitting right on the side of the road.
Sorry about the radar jammer, I meant the laser jammer. I have been reading up a lot on the Viel stuff which looks pretty interesting, and I defiantly think once I save up some money, of course, I will be buying a laser jammer. I was wondering what your takes were about them. Are they used more than radar guns by cops, and do they give u a long enough warning, because it seems like my detector only gives me 600 feet, which at slow speeds is plenty, but I am worried about when I take my car our for fun, if I will have to be worried about meeting some officers, if I get carried away.

Check the Laser Jammer FAQ for an in-depth education. Not all jammers are created equal. If you try to get by on the cheap, chances are it will not give you enough protection to save you. But yes, if you get the right jammer for your car, and have it installed properly, you have nothing to worry about from laser. How much laser is used in your area is a local thing. Hopefully, one of our many AZ members can be more specific for you. As for Veil, it is not a stand-alone countermeasure. All it does is improve the performance of a jammer. If you have the right jammer, you don't need Veil. But, of course, it can't hurt.

If you have the budget, LI is the only way to go. If not, Blinder is the only viable option on the market.
