Exclamation S1? What is causing this to go off?

Sorry, totally new to all the radar detector lingo.

When I pulled up to a friends property today my radar flashed S1 non stop. Later in the evening when I went to his house (which is app. 12 miles from land) same thing, right when I was about to pull in his driveway. ?????

Welcome, which Detector do you have and where are you from? Never heard of an S1 alert on any RD. The closest thing I could find in a search was that S1 was the name of a RD being sold overseas.
