    Hi everyone!

Even though I login as newjerseybt I live in NE PA. I moved from NJ (the "X" Band State) over 3 years ago but always kept newjerseybt as a login so I can be recognized on other forums.

Even though I lost my 454 Corvette lead foot decades ago, I am finding that many of the cities have become more "revenue conscious" than ever probably due to the poor economy. My city of Honesdale recently started using "Your Speed" signs to harass the locals and "out of towners" and law enforcement was giving out citations for going 5 mph over our posted 25 mph limit. We are an economically depressed town which depends on tourism. I can not help but think we will be hurting our tourism industry with this over-aggressive traffic enforcement. Trapping poor folks into a $300 ticket plus 3 years of higher insurance rates is just another form of government oppression.

I figured I needed to invest in some high tech equipment and a forum such as this is the best place to start. I have been lurking here for about a week and have gotten quite an education from the members already. I figured by signing up I can possibly contribute something from my decades of experience in the radar industry. Unfortunately, it was in aircraft weather radar.

I still have my old Escort radar detector from 1983 which only detects x and K bands so I need to upgrade. I have been thinking of the Bel GX65 as a possible replacement for my antique and some stealth for my license plate.

A "5" over the limit ticket!!! This means war!!!!

To obscure it from cameras, or to decrease your laser signature?

    Welcome,

The Bel GX65 is deff a good detector to have it would serve you well for stationary K-band. But really the only radar you will find is on the highway with PSP. So having a detector in the city is useless.

My recommendation would also invest in a scanner. Once you learn how to use one it would be the best defense against locals that use non radar devices to enforce speed limits.

I am more vulnerable to speed cameras. I can't be constantly focused on my speedometer, the road itself, traffic signs and pedestrians all at the same time especially in 25mph zones. The exercise is too strenuous and most of the time I find myself wandering off my intended speed. Just a twitch of my toe and my Hemi gives me another 5MPH.

My initial research finds spray shields not to be effective when flash is not used. Also , partial plate numbers still can track a victim. Prism covers used in conjunction with spray shields might be better, but covers may be illegal in some States. Lots to consider. I also have found some speed cameras not to be in the Trinity database. Example: Port Jervis, NY. Why should police weaken their position and divulge camera locations?

I don't drive 140mph at 1:00 in the morning (closed road 1/4 mi.) anymore as I can't afford to for many reasons so laser will not be finding me attempting world speed records.

About a year ago I was thinking of purchasing a Uniden BCD996XT but researching found that some towns are using scramblers as part of their system. Therefore, the scanner I was thinking of purchasing may be already obsolete.
