Hi from Little Rock, AR. Big thanks to our host and mods, and thanks to all the excellent contributors. I'm enjoying reading forum posts, especially real world experiences and war stories. The videos are a favorite, as well as the development of that home-made lidar transponder system. Humbly, no stranger to speed on the roads, former law enforcement (10 yrs non-US), regular speedster in youth, mellowed somewhat but still give it a nudge occasionally, never owned a RD until this year, my 27th driving year. Ashamed to say my first RD was a Cobra and quickly experienced the inadequacies of it, returned it, and bought a used Escort S2, immediately impressed with it on X & K-band (put quality rechargeable batteries, turned sleep function off & used expert mode). I thought Ka band could have been better so I bought a Whistler XTR-695 late last year, and was immediately satisfied with Ka band performance, and it gave me some good saves on rural highways against 34.7 and 35.5. I've compared the S2 and 695 side by side and noticed a little interference between the two, and quickly noticed the was significantly quicker on Ka, although there have been times on a straight flat rural hwy that they've gone off at virtually the same time to 35.5, something that caused even more impression with the S2, and made me wonder why it didn't perform like that all the time (concluded the 695 was better at sniffing out weaker signals and the S2 got lucky that 1 time in ideal conditions). Consequently I've taken the S2 off my dash and mounted the 695, which remains my current RD. Budget consciousness is the reason for not investing more cash in the V1, and one day I'll get one, but not before I get a lidar jammer (probably M47 for value) + Veil if necessary. The progression to full coverage continues, and thanks to ya'll I'm up to speed on what I need for that. Again, greetings, and thanks.
