Got some new gear, tired of the tickets, and while doing my research it seemed that every hit with useful info took me back to threads on radardetector.net!
At this point, I've gleaned so much great info from the kind folks here I figured it was time to join up and be a part of the community!
So hello from Portland Oregon! The screen name is taken from a series called The Trailer Park Boys, produced in Canada. My kind of humor, love the show. Figured I'd get that out of the way, figuring some may think it was a hint at being a forum troll or something like that.
I've been an RD fan since the early 90's...first one was a Whistler. I have a 2006 Monte Carlo SS that I bought new in Dec '05, and at the time I bought an 8500 x50 blue to roll with me, and it's served me very well over the years. I had it hardwired and mounted on the windshield with suction cup mount.
I recently had some bad luck and decided it was time to go a bit more active on the defense. Thought about the ZR3 for some time but never wanted to drop the money on it. Now that I've involuntarily dumped that money into the local revenue generation gang's coffers instead, hindsight is 20/20. I noted that they've come out with the ZR4, so I went and had it installed a few weeks ago. Of course it works great with the 8500 x50, but I decided to go all out and I ended up buying a 9500ix to replace it, retiring the 8500 to my son.
Well, I have got to say that I'm very happy with my setup now, the 9500ix is pure geek brilliance, and the installer did a great job on the ZR4 install...checked the front sensors and they're dead flat on known level ground, so I think I'm good to go.
I've got some questions about some other things...Veil G4 application, etc, but I'll save that for the more specific forums.
What a great community you've got here! I've learned a helluva lot in a short period of time. Thanks to all who make this place great, and I'm looking forward to learning a lot more and sharing with you all what I can.
See ya on the inside!
