I use a radar detector for 8 years. I've started with a Cobra 9150 in 2002, not a very good detector but good against the only radar used in my country at that time, Python II working in constant on on K band.
In 2005 I've changed it with a Whistler 3450 remote because the radar detectors became illegal. It was a good detector and served me well for 3 years until it died suddenly and I got my first radar ticket since I've started using a detector, 80Km/h over the speed limit.
Since then I'm a big fan of belscort radar detectors because of their self calibration circuitry. If I had a Bel then I would have know the detector is seek. The whistler just remained silent.
Now I'm using a Bel 955. Since 2007 radar detectors are legal in Romania, there's no need to hide the detector or use a remote one.
