Default Hello - 30k to 40k miles a year in Florida

I'm starting a new job next week and expecting to drive about 30 to 40k miles a year all around the sunshine state.

I live in Cocoa Beach (grew up in Orlando) and my head is spinning after trying to get up to "speed" on current radar and laser protection. It looks like the good old days of just having a decent detector are long gone. I've been using one sort or another for years.

Right now I have a 9500i that I am considering upgrading to an ix. Also thinking about the V1 based on what I have read but would really like to having a permanent and more hidden display but don't really want to cough up the money for the 9500ci if I also need quality jammers as well.

Just picked up a 2010 Prius - don't laugh - the new Prius is a pretty good car and quicker than you would think. Just did Cocoa Beach to Miami the other day and got 47 MPG (measured) and car is not fully broken in yet.

Thinking about either the LI Duals or Blinder 47 if I that would be enough. Car is Silver and I think mounting options might be pretty decent.

Any feedback especially from fellow Floridians and others is much appreciated. Thanks!

    Welcome aboard fellow Floridian.

If budget is a concern, I'd keep the radar detector and get the Laser Interceptor 1st.

Sounds like you are going to be on the highways a lot, so a V1 should be on the list for the not too distant future.

Yeah, you'll want at least an LI on the front of that thing. What colour is it? And what's the rear end look like? I have a feeling the rear may be a problem, and need an LI HP.

I grew up in Cocoa Beach! I went to school with Ron & Jon, back when they were kids, and their dad's store was about the size of a 7-11. Good times! Probably be down there for a visit in the next couple of months or so.

Thanks for the feedback, when I get my post count up I will post some pictures of the front and rear. Being a hatchback the rear is a pretty good target. I am hoping the LI Quad would do the trick as the HP's really ad to the cost.

Color is Silver like in the picture posted above which I know is bad for laser but good for the heat

    Getting the windows tinted today.

Radarrob - you said LI Dual will work, should I be worried about protecting the back as well in Florida?

I know of a Floridian who has a few friends who are LEOs. He has also been approached by different police forces to help train their officers and has always declined. He has said they do shoot you in the rear.
