I've looked through the forums for a few months off and on looking for information and I finally registered not too long ago. Just picked up a used V1 version 1.7, and confirmed with Valentine that it is not stolen. Previously I had a very old whistler and it took the dump, so what a perfect opportunity it was to upgrade

Welcome to the forum. You should enter your serial # on VR's site to get a price to upgrade that V1 to the latest and greatest.

Welcome aboard. I think you've made a huge upgrade. I saved for months for my V1 and I still love it. Be advised Valentine will charge you $40 or so for updates since you were not an original owner. (updates are free for site buyers. It's not fair but it does give them some protection from the used market.

    Besides that, enjoy!

I've been happy with the V1 so far, had some quirks with placement on the windshield, but I'm working on finding out whats triggering the laser alert.
I will be upgrading to the latest and greatest in a month or two, just have to get some things knocked out before that happens.
The upgrade price is $189, so I still think it's a bargin to get the best radar out there. I'd imagine that once I upgrade, the updates would be free afterwards cause I'm ordering from them rather than used?

Oh, forgot to mention, got my wife an Escort 8500 X50 just before I got my V1. Not a bad radar, but I think the V1 is more useful and powerful. In the short time I've used it I've fallen in love with the bogey counter and arrows
