    Default Hello from California!

Hey all! I'm from California and decided to get a radar detector after getting a speeding ticket. Radar at 35 in a 30. (ridiculous!)
Just hope I wont run into any problems with the unit being mounted up in the middle of windshield as I know it is illegal to mount stuff in the middle of your windshield in California.
I'll eventually get it mounted on the top of the windshield once I am less of a newbie and figure out how to hard wire it. I'm new to all this stuff.
I also just got an Escort 9500ix after countless hours of research and opinions from this forum!
    Comments and tips suggested!
    Thanks!

LOL, fight the 35 in a 30 ... you are almost guaranteed to win unless there was something very unusual about the conditions. A 22350 for five over is easy work.

A ticket for mounting on your windshield is very rare, don't even worry about that.

I would fight it but the first thing the cop did when he walked up to my car was show me his radar gun and said "35 in a 30 buddy, going pretty fast." Also it was close to a school so I'm not expecting to get off the hook even though there was no school in session.

Sure, but the purpose of an RD is to keep you from getting pulled over, not to assure it. If you get pulled over, you lose, ticket or not. Not to mention the significant performance increase with a high-mounted detector. Definitely get that done as soon as you can.

LOL, do what you want but a 35 in a 30 is so easy to beat it's not even funny.

Him showing you the radar means nothing. You were not busted for exceeding the maximum, you were busted for "unsafe speed for conditions." HUGE difference between those two tickets in California.

I've been pulled over many, many times and never gotten a ticket for my detector and it's right in the middle below my RVM. I don't take it down or hide it either. Last time I got pulled over for no rear plate the cop mocked my radar detector because she was an angry man hating type who hated the world, but no ticket. Granted I don't get many warnings either, but that's probably more to do with the computer in the cop's car, LOL.

I know one person in California who has gotten a ticket for it and that was part of a plethora of tickets on a modded Evo where he got something like 10 at once, mostly because he was a jerk to the cop.

Just curious, but where in Cali did you receive your ticket? 5 over sounds pretty much like BS to me.

    Welcome to the club.

I took a traffic school class with a CHP officer as instructor... he said no LEO should issue a 5 over PSL. Take it to court.... unless it's too late.
