Welcome! If you can get at least an Escort 8500
Welcome to the forum.Save up some coins and get a decent RD.You won't regret it.
I know, I'm saving right now! So is there a dominant brand or do they all seem to have their pros and cons?
Let me guess, you're a proctologist?
it all really just depends on what you are looking for in a detector, Escort, Beltronics, Valentine and Whistler each have something different to bring to the table
lol @ poopshoot...I mean poopchute. Proctologist...haha good one.
Yeah, poop, your Cobra will merely help you get a ticket and express yourself to the world as a nincompoop. So ditch that thing asap, and you sound sufficiently motivated to do it as soon as you save up.
On a budget, Escort 8500 non-X50, (from ebay with the warranty), with intent to get V1, Redline, or 9500ix later, depending on what kind of driving you do most of the time. Highway; V1, Redline. City only, 9500ix. Others to consider; 9500ci, Sti/r. If Whistler ever improve their k-band reception and fix the k/x band ID issue, I'd recommend them too. I will say that my XTR695 never let me down but it came very very close a couple times. The V1 is king and the best detector ever made (for me), given all things, including reactivity, sensitivity, arrows, bogey counter, & muting options. The only thing I don't like about it is the reported off-axis 35.5 ka-band weakness, but I'm yet to experience that as a threat. A bigger, constant, and more real daily threat to me is rolling selective I/O on highways and interstates. And the V1 does great against that when combined with rabbits. I've had a few very close calls when not running with rabbits, and it's very rare that I'll push it when solo on the road...and I do so with the knowledge that I'm breaking a rule and opening up my risk to a ticket, and can't blame my RD if I get one in those circumstances.
lol... thanks for the warm welcome, I'm actually thinking about the redline. 35.5 is hot in my area. I'm running the 14 band XRS 9345 with 360 Laser detection.
