    Question Bgt b4 RadarDetecor.net = cart b4 horse?

Hello from Eugene, OR - I just ordered the Escort 9500xi and then discovered RadarDetector.net. After about 13 years with Escort's Passport 4500 (still working great, but outdated), I took advantage of the $80 trade-in offer. Having 13 years more age, I don't tend to speed much intentionally, but I'm much less able on fixed income now to afford the much higher priced tickets that are more prevalent with cameras and newer tech traps. Now, I'm hoping that I bought then best I could for the money. I didn't & haven't yet looked though the forums for info. I just saw a comment elsewhere to ck this site for lots of complaints about my new detector's problems with canceling out real traps via the 9500's false alert canceling feature. Yikes! Appreciate any feedback. Thanks, duckdan.

I believe you are referring to Truelock. Yes, the 9500ix can potentially lock out real threats but there are measures you can take to prevent this possibility from happening. Read this thread for info:

Be careful with Trulock. My local department of 10-units patrol maybe 50sq miles and run C/O and I/O K-band that almost owned me a few times because the Escort never alerted me. What saved me was that I also ran my V1 at the same time.

    Welcome to the club.

I was in Eugene a few months ago and got zapped with LIDAR from your state troopers... then again later up near Portland.
You need laser protection as well.

Yes, I know they use laser here alot. Do you think the laser protection on the 9500xi is good enough,\?

On a side note, I am getting to like the TrueLok alot. There were a ton of false warnings on my initial driving around Eugene. My 10 year old Passport 4500 wasn't nearly as sensitive as the 9500; but I'm quickly getting happy about TrueLok giving me silence except for real warnings at much greater sensitivity.
