    Cool New 9500ix

Hello, I just upgraded from a 4 yo Bel 955 to an Escort 9500ix. Still trying to get used to the new chirps and sounds but after a week I am. Like the lockouts. Have it mounted high on my ws by the rvm. Hardwire should be here tomorrow for better install.

Cool thing about the remote install unit is that you can lock out signals using the remote mute button with a double tap as well. I love my 9500ix.

Yep. Starting to like mine. What is the farthest distance that you have detected Ka band? I am in Louisiana and that is used mostly by the LSP. I used to mount my Bel 955 low but read that higher is better so I mounted my ix high.

I have never detected Ka more than a couple of miles away in the city due to the nature of city terrian, but out in the desert I have picked it up much further. In my experience, Ka devices have much more culminated signals when compared to K band and are much harder to detect off-axis.

With the 9500ix I would recomend conservativism when getting weak hits and progressing towards a hill/bridge or curve.

Detection distance in every circumstance is different, on on any band, due to environmental differences (cars, hills, curves, officer positioning etc)... so detection range will vary dramatically in every encounter, so you can't base others distance on what you will/should get.

I do have one question about the smartwire direct install. I bought an add-a-circuit from Autozone and will be tapping in to my 7.5 radio fuse. Do I need another fuse to plug into the circuit or is there an inline fuse 2A fuse that comes with the directwire? I had my 955 hardwired in and it did have an inline fuse. Lmk. Thanks
