Lightbulb Giovanni from Astoria, Need advice on Radar/Jammer/ Scrambler

Hello Guys and Gals, Pretty cool that there’s a Radar detectors website. I think it’s actually pretty good that there’s one up here because I’m guessing if the majority of us actually took time to sign up to this site and pretty much express ourselves on a forum like this, then all of us must be pretty much down to earth and safe drivers but that like to enjoy their cars.
I’m not going to lie, I’ve had 3 tickets I’ve gotten not because of racing but because. I remember when I first started driving when I was 16 years old I was coming back from school, no one was in the car, it was on a weekday afternoon like around 230pm. Jumping on the Clear view expressway heading towards the Throgs Kneck bridge(which leads you to the Bronx) . I just decided you know let me put the windows down and push it a little bit more. I did and you know what it felt nice, wind in the car, chilly breeze and as I was about to get off on the last exit before the bridge. I see the state trooper pulling me over. Asked me why I was speeding and told him the same thing, I was just enjoying the car and enjoying the day. The next 2times was pretty much the same reason but different highways. I really don’t race, don’t like to speed especially if I have people in the car and that includes HOT GIRLS ha-ha. I just speed when the highways is kind of empty, but lately I’m reading so many things and hearing so many things on the forms and also from friends.
I’m waiting on a car that I ordered, which is taking months to arrive but it’s almost here. This is car it’s not the fastest but it is built to be driven the way it was meant to be driven, I really want to get to enjoy my car and since all of you technically have all the knowledge that I don’t. This is why I joined the site, to see who can recommend me on getting a “radar/jammer/scrambler”. Nothing to expensive but something affordable because I do believe in that saying, you pay for what you get. Which is True. If anyone can
If anyone can recommend me something that would be lovely.

    Thank you for everything.

P.S I have a co-worker thats trying to sell me a Lidatek (LE-30) and he's pretty much trying to sell it for a negotiable price. Its the "complete Kit"

    Fixed Post.....
Welcome to the forum. You don't need to be a "speeder" to own a RD or to be a RD enthusiast. Many of us use them for situational awareness.

If you are on a budget the referb 8500 is a great deal. I would not buy anything less. There are many other great detector including the V1. and Redline (both are great for highway driving). All depends on your driving style, area, and preferences. Do not buy your friends unit. If you provide more info we can give you more specifics.

His diatribe actually brought me back to the time I was cruising the oversees highway going to Key West...Good times!

OP, you're in Queens so you will have mucho false alerts, you may want to look into escort 9500ix/bel sti r plus.

Escort IQ may be good for you as well.

I was in Manhattan a couple of days ago and the V1 was useless, I turned it off.

I drive through the Throggs Neck Bridge everyday for work, there's a Statie that shoots laser every single day in the same spot no matter what time it is day or night lol. It is right before you hit the Bridge when going South, or after you get on the bridge when going North. I drive through Queens to get through Westchester everyday and its neat. Program the V1 to Auto-mute K band, disable X band if you really want to, and you will be set. Falses arent that much. No need to have a RD in manhattan lol, thats mad to even speed there. I've seen taxi's cut an entire 6 lane's in 2 seconds to get a customer lmao.. literally 2 seconds of cutting everyone, so no need to speed in manhattan or cross streets. Highways or long travels, V1 has exceptional sensitivity, great range, and is trusted. I've been running V1 for 3 weeks now, and now that I learned to reprogram the V1, its so quiet I think it's broken lol. Radar detector = V1, and grab the best Laser Intercepts you can get, and drive safely bro.

Very Very true they do shoot in the same spot, I really don’t Speed like that but there’s going to be times where I’m not even going to feel that I’m speeding and I’m pretty sure it happens to a lot of people. Lol I love the way once you started to tell the modes I would have to have the radars on “V1 to Auto-mute K band, disable X band” I’m guessing V1 Auto-mute K band= means its pretty much on mute, X bands idk to be honest with you. Can you explain the bands if you’d like I’m like really really new. I honestly only had one radar and it was a cobra an Old friend of mine had an integra and never really used it so he gave it to me, lol I always thought it worked, well to be honest with you one time it did work when I was heading to go see my Xgirlfriend on the L.I.E heading East entering Suffolk. Quick question Does every Cop use Laser in New york, L.I & Queens? And in terms as Jammers idk. Or a radar just what just have it on every time I drive and have it mounted. Is it true if you get a ticket from the cops and you have a Valentines Radar, they pay for it? Sorry about the questions bro, I’m just really new to do this Stuff, it’s better to ask then not knowing at all? Thanks before for your enlightening response.
