Default Intro from someone with horrible luck

Hello all. I am happy to say I have finally pushed myself to realize I need to join the dectector/jammer community. A little preface about myself. I am 20 and from Long Island, NY, although I am going down to Tampa for school in the fall. I currently have a 2005 Hyundai Tiburon.

My first encounter with police and my first car, a mitsu eclipse, was in 2009. Got lasered at 123mph and got convicted of two misdemeanors and added a load of points on my license. I was not under the influence just a beautiful day in July on an empty highway. I had to spend 10 days in jail and lost my license for 8 months.

My second encounter about a year ago involved my second car, a 2010 expedition, cruising with traffic at 80mph from a state trooper. That ticket i have been putting of for over a year now bcuz if i get convicted i will lose my license.

Most recently I got a ticket yesterday for 81mph by another state trooper.

SO as you can see.... I need protection because my good luck doesnt exist. Hopefully I can learn from this forums and all of you and after years of screwing myself over I can finally be ticketless.

Welcome to the forum. Time to start making your own luck. Get a GOOD detector (such as the V1, Redline or STi-R+) and a GOOD laser jammer like the Laser Interceptor. The entry price may seem steep at first but compared to tickets, insurance surcharges and license loss it's a total bargain!!

I wouldn't go 123 mph, that's asking for trouble, but 80-85 on interstates is certainly doable with a good detector and smart driving tactics. Read up on the forum, learn about "rabbits" in particular. Also read the section on fighting your tickets. A ticket lawyer could save your license at this point.
If I'm passing you on the right, YOU are in the wrong lane!

If speed kills, how come I'm still alive?

Thanks! I've been searching around and so far the best bet for laser is the interceptor, which I will be investing in. My question I was about to look up is, do I need a detector as well? I didn't think cops still used radar.

That sucks! I would advise on getting a Laser Interceptor Quad and a V1. Also, get an STi-R Plus in addition to that, if you have the funds for it. The LI + V1+ STi-R Plus combo is the best one around. One more thing. You can definitely get away with going 123 mph, but, you have to pick your spots. There's a lot of those spots in my area . Probably not so many in the NYC area, though.

Why the V1 plus the sti? Also, I'm not too worried about getting caught from behind bcuz of where I live, cops dont usually pull behind you.

lasered @ 123mph!, that's just BAAD luck. Oh noes. I'm surprised you have $ for countermeasures after the jail, points, ticket, insurance ordeals. If you want to do 123 yes you need some serious counter measures too bad u didn't think of it before.

    Welcome to the forum.
Yes, you need a radar detector and laser jammer.
    Pecking order for detectors
    1. STi R Plus- use this if you travel very fast
    2/3. V1 and Redline
It would be great to have two detectors but you only need one.
Even with these you will have trouble at those speeds. You have to be careful, use a rabbit, and know what is around you.

Sounds like a CB won't be a bad idea either. 3/3 on highways you say, and the CB is alive on highways. I personally don't have one, but I'm sure I'll get a lot of agreement on this.

    LI Dual at minimum
    V1 or STi-R+ or both.

Thanks for all the responses everyone. I was 18 at the time of the first encounter, i am now two years older and can assure you all I wont be making those mistakes again; haha... I will however continue to do my cruising speeds of around 80-90mph.

As with all the setups that have been proposed I see that they are in the $1500+ area. I have around $1000 to play with in regards to countermeasures.

The setups that have been coming up a lot for my price point is as follows:

    1. LI Dual + 9500ix
    2. LI Dual + Redline

out of any other options one could think of or out of those two would be greatly appreciated. yeah.

I will be using it primarily on the new york interstates and parkways as well as travelling to and from florida for the next few years.

Thanks again for all the sympathies and responses so far. Like I said before, bad luck.
