    Default Hi from a LEO

Hi guys, I am a LEO and recently purchased a Redline mainly for the gadget part of it as I don't speed.

I will be hosting a testing session in my area with my co-workers this Monday to test the Redline. I will be using stalker handheld, stalker mounted unit, C/O and I/O. I will also be using Laser Atlanta with tripod and maybe LTI ultralyte but this unit sucks at long range. I will also mount the Redline at different locations on my windshield.

Looking forward to share the results with you guys. If you have ideas on what you would like to hear from that testing session, please let me know and I will do it if I can.

If you have general questions about RD vs radar or laser feel free to ask on the post or in private.

Welcome to the forum. I look forward to seeing your results.

You are in good company here. You might be surprised to see how many use the RD for situational awareness and don't intend to speed and find the RD makes for a more enjoyable and less stressful drive.

Let us know how the testing goes.

You may want to mention to your co-workers that leaving their radar unit on when working an accident can be very helpful in warning radar users. Both my wife and I have been alerted by radar from LEO's heading to an accident. It helped us avoid bad situations due to radar detection before arriving at accidents that had JUST happened and before law enforcement had a chance to alert traffic. Including a travel trailer upside down in the freeway at dusk.

You are absolutely right I usually leave it on if i am going code 3 somewhere, if the violator is stopped in a bad spot or when i am late for the end of the shift so that people do at least the speed limit

So far I installed it in the popo ride for the shift and it works pretty good. It alerted to my co-worker I/O in a long but not sharp curve. I was the third car when the I/O was made on the first car. R/L alerted about 3-4 sec before i could see the other leo. It would have been a save for sure. (one lane each direction undivided hwy)

On another occasion i was about 500 feet ahead of other leo that was following me (so he was behind same direction) and i got alerted on every single vehicle he clocked I/O.

My only complaint is a lot of false K bands when in town

Next step is to test long range, laser and some more I/O

That is good feedback on the Redlines performance.

K band falses can drive you crazy. After some time you get to know the difference. However, area's with alot of k falses tend to be congested....and the speed limit is less of a concern since you can't safely go fast, at least that is my experience in my area.

Welcome to the forum and it will be very interesting to see really how the redline does on each situations. The redline do false a lot on k and in time you will just know that they are false in 99% of the time and that's why I don't speed in town, well okay maybe at times but only 2 to 4 mph over. People have been saying that the redline don't do well on I/O but I have pick up some pretty good I/O with my redline. Please keep us posted and thank you.

I found that all low 24.1 are false (I would say .100 to .600) then .800 and up you may start to worry. As soon as i entered town i started to reveive moderate k band (i was sure it wad false) then i got a full blast for a few seconds at 24.2. Sure enough a city cop had his genesis 1 in C/O about 2k ahead of me same direction.

For the ones of you wondering, even if you are hit for half a sec I/O the redline will beep for the minimum 5 sec or whatever it is. Same for laser.

I had the rl mounted dead center above the rear view mirror and my radar antena is bottom left of the windshield. I would say only 5% of my I/O hits were detected (I have a smoking fast finger). I will have videos on youtube saturday some time you will see what I mean.

Laser though is insanely sensitive, rl detected 100% of my 0.1 sec hits (laser was almost touching the redline)
