Get a V1, they are simply the best. If you spend enough time on the forum you will see that most will agree with that. The Escort and others do have other features like GPS etc, but for detection, V1 is hard to beat.

Well, the only problem i have with the v1 is there is no mute button on the smartcord like there is on the 9500ix. I think the V1 is awesome but the smartcord is what i want bad.
And i only got $150 saved up

Question? Which is more important. What you want or what you need to prevent a ticket?

Well i dont need a ticket but now i have another problem.
I have $200 in rewardzone points at best buy. And they sell the 9500ix online
It would only cost me $300 and i might pick it up.
    Any comments or suggestions?

What to get depends on your area, diving habbits, Leos' equipment, etc. Everything is a trade off, more filtering means less detection. If you have to buy with your points, does the store have an on line store where you have more choices? If you live in a Metro area, the GPS lockout on daily routes can be a pro or a con, trade offs. The black unit (no GPS) shows to be a good performer, but more test needs to be done. Being a young guy with a RD means that you will take more chances which means more tickets. Everything is a trade off and a gamble in speedings for a RD is not a Leo detector, you will get a ticket in time no matter with a RD. So, I might get ix if I was in a metro area (that is from a non bias V1 user for you would have to pry the V1 from my dead cold hands). But warning, a Leo with lidar or an I/O (a MC is deadly) will get you just about eveytime with an ix for your not going to be ticket free, just fewer tickets. I would not speed and not own a RD for in the long run, it will cost you even more....

The V1 is a super unit! It will false more than other detectors and some cannot stand it. I run with the filtering turned off for instant alarms for I/O to have a chance (done several great brake jobs on a hit), dealing with more falses at a lower volume mostly for just a heads up (a weak signal). Test by the East Coast group and Guys of Lidar can give you an insite on RDs.There are less expensive units that perform in the medium range with filtering (you may like filtering). You have to figure out the pros and cons of what you are up against (what the Leos use) and decide. Your taking your time which is good and doing your home work I hope for buying a RD is very important to select the right one. Most cannot go wrong with the V1 for it is still the standard to measure from (connection maybe for you also)....

Hello from another kansas member. Louisburg ks. to be exact. I had the valentine one and loved it. I sold it when I sold my gto. I just picked up a new redline with escort live that I run on my android phone. So far it's been great, the range is phenomenal. I do miss the arrows of the v1, but Im sure I can live with the redline. It seems that the ka range is alittle better then my v1 was. That's my biggest threat around here.
