    Default Greetings from Southern California!

    Hi Fellow Radardetector members!

I'm thinking about purchasing a radar detector for use here in Southern California, and so far, I have looked into Valentine V1, Escort 8500/9500, Whistler XTR-140, and Cobra iRadar. I really just need a simple and accurate radar detector; I don't need to fancy arrow direction, voice alerts, GPS, etc.

Do you guys have any recommendations on a radar detector that doesn't have all the bells and whistles that is also accurate in Southern California?

Welcome! Sounds like your pickin' the opposite! Accurate? Wrong word. Highway (not a city RD) Valentine for K and Ka CHips. Escort 8500 black- not bad but not fully tested yet. Whistler- fair units. Cobra- no way in hell for it is alway near the last in performance. If you in a Metro, a GPS unit maybe needed! Go to Guys of lidar on the web for a start and radar detector compairson test search. Ask away on the general radar detector section.....
