Default Hello I need bit of help on new detectors mid range price

I'm from Oregon, hope I do this right. I've done tons of research on radar detectors, used to have an older sleek model, talking Cobra I thought it was ok, got me out of few tickets, but not enough lol, then it broke in a near fatal car accident. I have a habit of a lead foot I need a new one sadly can't really go over 160.00, was gonna buy another Cobra, but their so bulky now. I've been on all the cool sites so far I like Whistler, but I need to be sure..I'm bit confused with few things as Whistler doesn't have the Vg-2 alert like the Cobras I won't know when I'm being detected by another detector RDD is this needed and just what is Spectre I Immunity Provides RDD is this for cloaking other RDD on police radar or both? I was told that the Whistlers are hard to be detected by police radar is this true anyone know? I just now looked up that Oregon most parts still use X-band and a lot of your tests prove that Whistler on the X-band far alerted over Cobra think I just gave self the answer to my search, but really still appreciate any input and also the difference in the Whistler models like the PRO-78 SE, XTR-690 SE, or XTR-695 SE aside from the features, do they test any better in alerting on the diff models, same brand?..Thanks!

    Depends on Oregon Law Statues.
Are RD's banned in your State ? If not, then it's ok to own & use a RD,& not be concerned about the Spectre (which is a radar detector, "Detector !)...think of it as a very sensitive radio receiver able to sniff-out RD's like a Bloodhound dog.
Many RD's emit (leak) small internal signals...this is what the RDD listens for as you drive by.

No bans here, thanks for you explained it very well, the dude from Whistler had me confused, he was off lol..Mostly I was concerned tho as I live in a small town was hoping to stay off the radar not getting the police trying to outwit me w theirs, that's what I was getting at trying to fly under the radar lol. I've learned a bit from reading off the websites that led me here except navigating this place never been on a forum before now that I already messed up new post ugg, where's the delete button?

Oregon is ok to use Radar Detectors and Laser Jammers ;-) so you don't have to worry about being detected if you are not in a commercial vehicle like a big rig. So features like VG-2 are fluff. They won't bother using a Spectra against you either. 160 eh. Can you go to 200? If so I would be checking Escorts ebay store and snap up a re-manufactured Beltronics RX-65 when one comes available. That S-7 antenna and Band Segmentation / Radar Detector Rejection off blows the doors off anything Cobra or Whistler has. The only catch is that unit is not compatible with Escort Live nor does it filter out K band Traffic Speed Radar. I have no idea if that is in use where you live. That is going to be the best performing detector in your price range by far.

^ This is correct - the old Beltronics RX-65 "S7" is an amazing RD in your price range. They are rare & no longer in production. This detector is very close in performance to two of the best windshield RD's ever made (Valentine Research model "V1" & Escort Radar "REDLINE") costing ~$500.

Once in a while Escort Radar has some refurbished RX-65 S7 models they sell thru their Ebay store outlet.Normally for $199.
Other than that, your chances at finding a used one (& in excellent condition) is very difficult.
*NOTE: there are regular RX-65,too(non- "S7") ...but they are a lesser performer.
You only want the "S7" version.

Thanks guys, I get what your saying dang I've already got pulled over, thankfully it was local just outside of town & not OSP they're not nice, I was let go ooh! The OSP do like to be jerks & use whatever they feel like, X, K, ka, lazer bands why they're so sneaky I think too..Ya money is hard, maybe I could pull off something here I can't find any Bels w the S-7 antenna, what about the newer Bel Pro-100, is that anything worth looking into? I just bought a newer car, parked my 1 ton, 4x4 Cheyenne & back to getting pulled over. Little advice from Mr. Police Officer 'try using my cruise control it helps', it does lol!

The 100 is ok, not many features but better than a cheap Cobra and probably on par with many whistler, it does not have the newer lens of the 300 which gives a boost in range. I know you hate to spend the money but one ticket will cost you more than upgrading to a better/awesome unit. Do a little more research and you will learn what I mean. Plus know that no RD is going to save you all the time, but the better the unit the better your chances.
