I have had a Whistler Pro 3450 and a few of the earlier models for years probably going on a decade. Never got a ticket for them, now in the last 3 months I got 3 tickets for them. What did the Virginia State police change? At a $100 each its getting kinda costly to run this thing. I still a firm believer of having radar protection so what changed and what do I have to do to avoid these tickets other than turning it off.
Situation yesterday was going through rolling hills and I was alone on the road, I was coming down a hill and he crested the hill going the other way, turned around stopped me and asked for licence, walked around car and looked and than asked where the radar detector was. I told him it was build in. We bull****ted for a while, nice guy. Wrote me the ticket and came back and said that I might have this figured out because these radar tickets have to be cheaper than speeding tickets, lol. HE explained that if there was more than one car he could no ever figure out what car it was and would have pulled over no one. Also said that I could have told him I did not have one and he had no right to search and would have had to let me go. He said that has happened a few times before. But most times he said when he got to the car its in a ball of wire on the floor.
I like the remote idea so I like to stick with one of them. I just want to find the most cost effective way to protect myself. What options do I have. I will go window mount if I have to.
