Default Hello from Texas - just bought a redline and want everyone's opinions

Just found your site so decided to join. I have previously owned two different escort 8500 radar detectors ( one was upgrade able the other wasn't) and the escort 9500ix. My last detector was stolen from my dd while parked at son in laws house. We left my car there when we drove to visits son for granddaughters 3rd birthday. Anyways, suspect my car was accidentally left unlocked when son on law moved the car to drive his truck. At any rate, it wasn't in my car when we returned from sons house. I work out of town so I drove my car to daughters house since I work near their home and it would have saved a four hour round trip drive! Anyways, I read different reviews online and bought a redline detector but hope to read what the members here suggest before I open the package .

Welcome to the forum Great detector choice. No.1 for distance and off axis detection. Now Band segment 2,5,8 on, RDR off mount it high and be good to go. The band segments 2,5,8 cover Ka 33.8, 34.7 and 35.5 the 3 used in the US. We are here to help set up, answer questions and get to know you. There is a lot of knowledge to be gained by reading and viewing testing results you will see the Redline Rocks.

Redline rocks on range and off axis is almost magical compared to other detectors I've owned. You can use it with live to lock out k band falses.

Welcome! If you know the SN# of the stolen RD, keep a check on pawn shops, flea-bays, and local ads. Report the SN# to Escort in case someone tries to repair it and to the cops. I was lucky because I walked out on the Memphis @#%^*^&% in my auto which did not give him time to look up over the RVM to grab my V1, but he punched a hole below the door lock to break in. Good luck with the RL.......

AttyVette, clever name <grin> I assume you have a Vette and your attorney. Redline is great detector and you will enjoy having radar detector performance that equals the performance of your car.

You may also want to consider segmenting your detector, have some tips here on how to do it: Radar Detector Band Segmentation Explained
