The developer Francky offers the app for free and has worked with several enthusiasts to refine what it offers. Hundreds of hours coding ,developing, working overlays refining gps lockouts ect. Android and apple are completely different os different coding so dissing him and the work he has done because it isn't apple compatible is not Kosher here. Have you checked update cost of your V1 at their site yet? Apple has a paid app that offers some advantages over V1 connect but without ESP the ability to gain these are not available. There are videos on you tube that can help you program and quite down what you have that you should watch.
No developer just a group of hobbyists trying to make the v1 better. Valentine Research is indebted to them. I know it sucks but just get a cheap android throwaway phone.
Depends on how you look at it. Android has a lot more flexible options than apple and therefor easier for the developer, plus you can get a used Android phone cheap and YaV1 does not need data. I guess you can look at it as a remote wireless display for the V1, it just happens to be any Android phone with or without service.
Details about the YaV1 here: http://www.radardetector.net/forums/...1-support.html
