Well I bought my LI back in late august or september of last year, right before the school year (I have a 15 hour drive to and from school through the worst states for enforcement - CT, NY, PA, Ohio). It worked incredibly on the drive here and saved me multiple times.
Now that I am getting to ready to make the drive home for the summer (I leave on tuesday in two days), of course my LI starts acting strange. About half of the time when I start the car, I get the infamous "connection to sensor two bad or poor" error. About another quarter of the time, the parking sensor just continually beeps for about 30 seconds and then goes silent, almost as if it thinks there is something in front of it. The rest of the time it works normally.
Now naturally I assume this is water damage, as I believe that my LI was purchased before the corrected versions were shipped out. However, here is the weird part - the LI as far as I can tell still can detect things. I tested both heads out with a remote control and they were set off no problem. Also, it still detects the sun and gives me sun warnings when I am driving directly into it.
However, I have no way to verify whether or not they are capable of jamming or even emitting laser or IR light.
I have two questions:
1. Am I protected for the trip home? I am driving through Ohio and they just are infamous for their laser traps. Do you think since it can still detect IR light that it can jam it? Is there any way to verify this - maybe with a video camera on night mode?
2. How do I go about getting a replacement for my faulty unit?
Thanks in advance!
