    Default LI mute function

I don't know if this info has already been posted or not but I thought I would pass it on for anyone else installing their LI.

I finally got around to pulling my radio headunit and hooking up the LI's mute function. Initially I couldn't get it to mute my radio. I then got out the mutimeter and tried to see where the problem was. The problem was the LI mute wire was not grounding during the voice alert like I thought it should. Several frustrating minutes later I thought maybe it doesn't mute during the welcome and parking audio so I went inside and grabbed a TV remote. Sure enough as soon as I activated the unknown gun audio it muted my cars stereo.

Lesson learned today is the LI only mutes during real threats and not during startup audio. Hopefully I may have saved some other people from experiencing the same aggravation I went thru.

With the mute wire did you just splice it to the mute wire off the radio?

My car has a wire on the radio headunit (for when the phone rings) that is ground to mute. The LI's CPU has a mute wire that grounds when the alarm sounds. So in my case all I had to do was lengthen the mute wire on the LI CPU and tap it into the mute wire on my headunit. Now when the LI alerts it my radio mute gets grounded and the sound cuts off. If your car has a ground to mute wire on the radio it should work for you too.

I also saw on LI's website you can hook a LED between the LI's power wire and the mute wire and it will come on only when you are getting alerts. I may add one of these as well.

    Edit:

Reading my post again it sounds a lot more complicated then it should be. So simple answer. Yes just splice the mute wire.

Any wiring diagrams for these things?

Yes that makes sense. I might have to add those features.

Yesterday I got a sun interference warning and noticed the LI doesn't mute for that. I was driving with the windows down and barely heard it. I guess its not that big of deal since some owners just turn off the sun interference warning but I like to know when its happening.
