While driving home from work a short while ago I encountered a laser trap (2 troopers. One shooting what I am 99% sure was an LTI Ultralyte. I've shot this gun many times myself and can easily spot it. The other officer was making the stops and writing the cites). Just before I got targeted (doing 68 MPH in a "speed trap" 50 MPH zone change where the speed changes from 65 to 50 just over a hill. Nice, huh?) I got a sun intereference warning from the LI. My V1 as well as the LI's audible laser warning followed about 10 seconds later as I got targeted by the trooper. The weird thing is that the warning from the LI was clearly "Jenoptic or Jenoptic Clone. Jamming sequence is activated... please slow down". I can tell you that that gun is NOT used in my area. I got a clear look at what the trooper was shooting and, as stated, I'm pretty sure it was an LTI Ultralyte. (Do they even have a Jenoptic in the states?)
I've been shot by the state police with the LTI before and always received the "Ultralyte or Ultralyte 20/20" audible warning.
Anyway.. I let him hit me twice as I was slowing and then I turned off the jammer. My V1 went off one last time after I turned the jammer off and the trooper seemed satisfied with my speed reading (about 52 by then). LI did a great job jamming as usual!
What do you think might have caused the LI to misidentify the gun? Could the sun interference account for this? I wonder...
Just curious as this has this never occured before.
