LI mute wire

My car stereo has a mute input mode; when a certain wire goes to ground, the radio mutes. I want to hook up my LI to this wire so the radio mutes when the LI goes off. Do I just connect the black wire on the LI to this wire on my stereo?

I tried a piece of wire from the existing stereo harness to a ground. The radio went to mute. When I tied the black LI wire into this harness and turned the LI on, I expected the radio to mute when the "welcome" lady came on. However, this did not happen. Does the mute wire only go active when being jammed?

I believe it only mutes when it is a real jamming alert, does not do it when it starts up.

I hooked up my LI mute wire about a month ago

and ran into the same problem as you. The LI only mutes when its actually jamming and does not mute during the "welcome" or "interference from sun is detected" audio alerts.

Nope not a problem, just a function of the unit, actually that goes to good engineering for the unit to only mute during jamming.

I guess the word "problem" was not the correct term for me to use. What I was trying to say is that when I first hooked up my mute wire I expected it to mute during the "welcome" warmup. When it did not mute I perceived this as a mistake with either my wiring or a problem with the LI itself. After testing it with a remote I realized that the LI is only intended to mute during real threats. This was not explained in the LI manual so it initially caused me confusion. (the manual seems to be lacking in several areas) Had I done a thorough search on the forums I probably would have known this ahead of time.

So after all that... no it is not a problem at all but it can be confusing to the installer if they don't know ahead of time that the LI only mutes during real alerts.
