I've been thinking about adding an LI to my Ariel Atom, but have received some advice that has me concerned about whether the LI will actually work effectively with my car. Here are some pics of my Atom: Atom Club Gallery - Wayne McManus
Suffice it to say, it's a fast car, and one that is kind of difficult not to blast around in from time to time. The concern, as expressed by a fellow member of the AtomClub, was as follows:
"If you want to add a laser jammer to the Atom, let me save you some trouble.
Laser Jammer no workie on Atom for 2 reasons, too much electrical interference causes it to malfunction and give off false laser alerts, and second reason, it pulls too many G's causing false laser alerts.
I've removed my laser jammer system from my Atom after conferring with Escort tech support. Just no way to make it function normally in the Atom.
However, since I'm not an engineer I welcome any responses.
Here's my thing, this came from Escort radar's tech team which I personally sold Escort products for 5 years and trust the quality of their product very much. That being said, the offer they let stand is they would allow me to send in my laser jammers and they would be able to recalibrate them to 50% sensitivity which they felt would offer less falsing but consequently less capability of jamming the laser too which obviously defeats the purpose.
If another product out there is only capable of 50% or less strength then the escort product, then I'm sure it's feasible it wouldn't false............it probably wouldn't work either, which is why I never bothered."
Anyway, I thought I'd join here and throw this out for your consideration. I figured that if they work for motorcylces, then surely they should work for an Atom which is essentially a 4 wheel motrocycle.
BTW, my location states "Cayman Islands" which is where I'm at most of the time, but my Atom is in the US, so the LI will be for protection (along with my V1) on the highways and interstates there.
