Default How much Installing LI, cost you?

    Hello,

So I finally found a place that will install the LI for me. They seem to be very into doing quality work, and they have done work on BMW, Lexus, all the way up to Rolls Royce costing a quarter million. However they have never dealt with the LI, and I told them it was a parking sensor. They have however done many parking sensors. They are charging $60/hour and the quoted time they said would cost me around 4-8 hrs being $240-480 to install the LI and the direct wire cord for stealth install for my RD detector. They would have to take off the front bumper and mount it and wire it. I was suprised by the cost. Seems very expensive, but they seem to be quite confident that they can get it installed properly.

What do you all think? If you got yours professionally done, how much did it cost you?

That actually sounds about right. High-end custom shops usually charge around the $60/hr mark and sometimes more. It takes them awhile to do things because they take their time with everything and don't rush, which is good and bad for you. It all depends on how important a quality install is to you. I have paid before to get things installed because how I wanted it was beyond my expertise.

However, I will tell you this. I am going to be installing my Li without taking it to a custom shop, jammers aren't terribly difficult to install. On that same note however, I would recommend having someone with you to guide you through the install as I am going to have.

The shop will do quality work and you will be happy with the install, it is just a matter if you want to pay for it or not.

I paid $450 and my friend who is a master mechanic helped me.

It involved removing the bumper, mounting, routing the wires.

    Um, I drive a Lexus. I paid 1 hour ($65) for a fantastic install at a car stereo/electronics place.

Anyone that needs 4-8 hours to install the LI doesn't have a clue what they're doing.

I installed my 9500CI with the zr-4 shifter in my 2000 Honda and it took no more than 2 hours. Heck, it took me longer to install the alarm in my car. Running wires is easy, to install the shifter heads perfectly and level took the longest. 9500CI has the following to istall: radar head in front bumper, 2 shifter front bumper, rear head, GPS antenna, remote display, and remote control. It has more parts than LI. ANyone who seen my install will be pleased. I think I can personally install an LI for my car in 30-60 minutes. Why don't you post your location and see if anyone on the forumn lives near you to install and test. Forumn members here were happy to test my setup and i feel they will go the same for you.

I did my own install of my quad LI. It took me a few hours because I fabricated my own brackets and also because Im a little anal when it comes to things being perfect. I wanted to make sure of my locations for the heads for best performance and being level, so I thought about it carefully before diving into it. It really isnt that hard to install these things. Just takes a little time and an imagination. If people are paying that much for installs, I think I may open up a little side business. LOL

I'll emphasize this one more time. Straight, unobstructed, properly spaced and level are the keys to having a laser jammer perform properly.

I told the guy where and how I wanted the heads mounted. He mounted them nice and level, hid the wire behind the engine shround, popped a grommet off and fed the wires though the firewall. Next, the guy even custom cut out a circle for the on/off switch, and presto--1 perfectly installed LI in little over an hour (charged me for 1 hour).

    J/
