    Default LI External Speaker Question...

Got my LI in the mail Cut holes for the sensors in my girlle and started figuring out the best way to secure the heads, started to rain so I got moved inside and started looking at this whole speaker issue. I have the speaker that came with my STI which has 3 wires (red,black,3.5mm) now in the LI manual I see external + and external - (blue wires) and everyone online says just connect the blue wires to the speaker. My question is if the red speaker wire goes to the + blue wire and the black wire goes to the - blue wire, where does the 3.5mm fit into everything? I've poked around the LI site and only have managed to further confuse myself.

The blue wires on the LI power Loom are for the two speaker leads. You will need to cut off the 3.5 mm jack on the amplified STI speaker and strip it to the two conductors and then attach them to the two blue wires on the LI's power loom. The Black and Red wires are 12V (red) and Ground (Black) for the amplifier in the STI Speaker (be sure to check the STI Speaker Manual). Attach them to a 12V source. You will also need to open the LI CPU and move the SM Jumper from the Internal Speaker setting to the EXTERNAL Speaker setting to activate the blue wires on the power loom. Information may be found in the LI Users Manual on this procedure or here on the LI User's Forum:

Internal and External Speaker Jumper Position PICS

Thanks Cliff!! That is what I was thinking sounded right, could I run the speaker off the same add a circuit as the LI? I'm not sure how many amps the speaker is

I always recommend giving the LI a dedicated 12V. Tap the DC for the speaker elsewhere if possible.

I'd imagine a female 3.5mm jack attached to the LI's speaker lead could work as well if you wanted to avoid snipping the STI speaker wire...just my 2 cents

He absolutely could or add a jack that can be seated into his dash, center console etc.
