Just received newest version of LI Dual. Took a few pics of the unbox and have a few questions about install.
You can see the unboxing of the unit, as well as some closeups of version numbers, in the following album:
I'm going to install this tomorrow with the help of a friend. I understand all the wiring stuff, it is nothing out of the ordinary and is well explained in the manual.
However, as far as mounting the heads go -- I'm not sure how it is going to work.
Take a look at the grill of my car. It is easily removable, as can be seen by the four screws when the hood is popped. There is plenty of room between it and the radiator to mount whatever needs to be mounted.
My question, though, is about the screws. They definitely are not long enough to pass through the grill, slide through the mounting bracket on the other side, through a washer or two, and then tightened by a lugnut. Should i go out and buy some longer screws? Would that work? Can you buy screws like this at Lowe's etc?
Also, I notice the 4 "elbow" brackets, as well as the 2 big mounting pieces . Are the elbow brackets for mounting directly to the bumper (2 per head), while the 2 longer pieces are for mounting in the grill (one for each side)? I'm assuming if you use the long piece, you cut the remainder of it off? What are the rest of those holes for, anyway?
Here are the 2 long pieces i'm referencing:
The 4 "elbow brackets can be seen in this picture", as well as the tiny screws.
