For my LI install I'd like to do two things. First, I'll be using a wireless remote to power it on and off. These little $15 devices insert between the LI power leads and the car power point. With a keyfob remote you can wirelessly turn the power on and off - does anyone else use this method?
The downside to this leads to my second project. Since I'll be hiding the normal power switch (and avoiding a large cut in my dash), I'd like to connect a remote LED to the switch. Cliff says I can tap into the switch for power to the LED. However, this will result in an always-on condition, turning to a flashing condition under alert (just like the OEM switch does). My questions are this - does anyone know the required specs for an LED attached in this way to work correctly? I'm assuming a 12V LED but not 100% sure. Second question - is there anyway for the light to default to 'off' then flash under an alert condition? Finally, has anyone else done somthing like this or am I going overboard and should just suck it up and drill a 3/4" hole in my dash? Thanks a lot.
