    Default Troubleshooting LI Quads

These past few months I've been getting guaranteed Reigl falses (and sometimes another gun, that I'm not catching). Sometimes even sitting still at a traffic light behind a car I'll get a false (with HID's on or off, regardless of car/make model in front of me (it seems)). The V1 will even pick up the LI's firing.

I have no clue where to start trying to debug my install. I don't think it's a physical connection issue (I don't get any kind of falses going over bumps in the road). I'm going to try re-seating all the connections in the CPU, but other then that I'm kind of at a loss.

It's gotten very cold here very quickly and I wonder if temperature change has anything to do with it? Last winter I didn't get any falses though, and I've had the HID's the whole time. It seems like a more recent issue.

I'm fairly sure I've got about 5 hours of footage (going to and from CT/Boston) where the LI falses on several occasions (which leads me to believe something is wrong).

I'm really concerned that the LI will false, right when I need it the most.

    Thoughts?

I have never gotten a Reigl alert that wasn't attributable to an Infiniti in the immediate vicinity. But I get them almost every time I go out.

I glance around for LED taillights, HID's coming from the opposite direction and nothing. Tomorrow if I'm feel bored, I'll assemble a bunch of clips of the Reigl falsing during my trip. Now that I think about it, sometimes when it's really cold out, and I'm getting in the car for the first time, it'll tell me that connections to a sensor # or # is ____? (not responding or something?). A simple power cycle and it's back online.

Heh... I've got several videos of Reigl falses. They're classic, but not safe for work. My partner (usually driving) always slams the brakes and says, "WTF is that?"

Reigl and Traffic Patrol XR are the two falses I got when I had a head that was messed up. What you need to do is unplug one head at a time and see if you can isolate which head is causing the problem. It's like the head becomes supper sensitive to light and gives these false alerts.

I wish that LI would give the user the ability to turn off some of the guns the system looks for with the software. That way for us users in the states there would not be as much of a problem with Infiniti's.

If I unplug one head at a time, won't I get connection errors? Or should I power up the CPU then unplug a head at a time? I'm sure I'm complicating a rather simple test.. hah

Make sure the unit is off and unplug one sensor head. You'll just get a message saying "connections to sensor x is poor or bad". Then test... Whatever you come up with, let Cliff know.

Yes you will get the connection to sensor error, but the Reigel error will go away when you find the correct head.
