Default Laser interceptor install on 2008 bmw 335xi coupe

    Hi Guys,

Im ordering the Laser Interceptor Dual (Gen 8) for my 2008 BMW 335XI coupe in Space Grey. RADARROB has graciously agreed to install the setup. I want to order a black grill for my car as mine is stock (chrome i believe). My question is:

Does anyone know where I can order a horizontal black grill for my car?

It needs to be matte black not any chrome.

That would make it so it could be installed horizontally (correctly) and not vertically.
Also, has anyone installed is horizontally and cut out part of the grill for better exposure?

    THANKS.

I also really like how the switch is installed next to the lights. A person on e90 post did it that way. Hope im allowed to put in a link to that.

Whatever you do, don't mount the heads like he did!

That guy totally wasted his time and money and will be pwnt the first time he gets shot.

I don't really keep up with them, but I've never seen a horizontal grille for a BMW. I'm definitely interested in seeing what you come up with, as this presents a major problem for BMW drivers.

The best way to go is to simply buy the LI-HP, and mount the heads vertically. The twin diodes are 'polarised' for both vertical and horizontal dispersion, unlike the regular heads, so you get much better coverage on a BMW. Alternatively, mounting the heads IN FRONT OF the headlights on the flat brackets is even better coverage, and doesn't require the HP heads.

Even with horizontal mounting, those kidney grilles place the heads very central, leaving your headlights vulnerable to off-axis (most) shots with just two regular heads.

    Good luck!

    Thanks for the response.

I plan to have it similar but cut the grill a little.

Let me know what you think.

Also, I DO NOT run a front plate.

I HATE quoting pictures of previous posts in the same thread... but... if you mount your heads like this, or have any solid obstructing them, I will mail anthrax to your house.

Search for "08 09 BMW E92 E93 M3 Matte Black Grill Grille Coupe" on ebay. It's vertical, so you'll have to cut it. Nothing that a dremel with a cutting wheel and sanding bits can't handle.

I ordered a matte black grill. Unfortunately it is vertical so I will have to have it cut. How effective will the unit be if installed in matte black grill and cut for opening?

    Like this?

Too central. You'll have maybe 50/50 protection, at best. You've got to spread them out. Otherwise, save your money for the lawyers.

Yes, that is where I was thinking of putting them.

    Where do you suggest?
