Default Advice for LI install and User Guide

I got my Laser Interceptor from the post office yesterday. Cliff sent it very fast, but it had to be signed for and I am never home. I need some suggestions on where to install. This will just be temporary install, until I can get it tested. My previous install of the ZR3 had one head sitting ontop of the bumper and directly under both headlights, the rear head on the front license plate, and it was JTG against the Laser Atlanta. Note, this photo is not my actual car. Mine is black.

One thing that did concern me was the User Guide included with the LI. It is riddled with grammatical errors. This comes as a shock to me, because I have read some of Cliff’s forum post before, and have traded a few emails with him. And Cliff has always been quite eloquent. If I were a consumer, buying an LI on a whim, and I hadn’t personally aimed a Laser Atlanta at Samq45’s LI equipped car, and watched as it JTG, I might instill some doubt in me. I am assuming that Cliff didn’t write the user guide, or maybe that LI is European made and the guide was translated poorly. In either case, I am an engineer, and if I turned in an operator’s manual like that everyone would think I am an idiot.

Cliff, if you like, you can send either a PDF or Word Doc of the User Manual and I will edit it for free. Not only could I fix the grammar, but I could give it some much needed sexiness when you read it too. I feel a well written operator's manual would suite such a well engineered device!

    Hi Rob,

Thanks for the input. I have edited the Croatian penned manual months ago and it has been sent to their printer so the next run will be an English Academian's delight!

As to installation locations, try here:

I agree with the post. Cliff has been great, the product is great, but the current manual is terrible. Glad it is being fixed.

I'd rather have them make crappy manuals than crappy jammers/crappy customer service, lol.

duals. everything I have read indicates that duals will be enough. Especially considering I was getting good jams with my ZR3s against LA and truspeed

I think the heads in that position are a little to high. I think I would start in the bottom of that section of the grille or top of the lower section and adjust as testing indicates. That's just a long way from the plate area and fog lights for me.

agreed, it is too high. In this picture I think the guy is standing up and looking down at the front of the car. In reality the hood is almost perfectly parrallel with the ground, and would not be reflective at all. The lower part of the bumper is all chrome and perfectly vertical, so it is very reflective. I had good results with the ZR3 and it was mounted ontop of the bumper. I had to do that because the ZR3s were too large to fit in the grill without cutting it.

The LIs are very small and stealthy though. And I am leaning towards putting them in the lower half of the grill. And as wide as I can to protect those large headlights.
